edible flowers ~ print

I’m walking along the beach with my girlfriend, picking up the empty husks of lobster tails and shells, presenting my treasures to her like a penguin with a pebble. My feet are in the sand and my mind is on the canvas. Our conversation goes something like this:
“What do you think I should call my painting?”
“I’m not sure, what are your ideas?”
“well, I was thinking of calling it Edible Flowers, you know, for the obvious reason that is has nasturtiums in it, but also because it doesn’t really have any deeper meaning, you know? Like, it’s just a collection of pretty things. Like edible flowers don’t really have a purpose in a dish, they’re just there to make your eyes happy.”
She laughs, “I like that.”
And we both pause to examine a pufferfish that has washed ashore on the receding tide.
